This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Hello and welcome to Shine. I'm your host, Nicole Florence, and I hope many of you have taken the time to listen to the interview with Sue Hamilton that I just posted this past weekend. I mean, just what a sweet soul who's been through so much and has truly found a way of how to take on a burden which she did not ask for and turn it into a blessing. And it got me thinking this week about um how we stand firm during those times. And for many of us it may be leaning in on his word or verses, you know. I was never one to uh be really good at the memorization of you know verses and and the chapter, and um, you know, there's some people, man, they can just roll it off their tongue. Um, I think there is an art and a method to it. Uh I've gotten better at it since I did that stage play where, you know, memorizing the role of a stage manager in thousands of words was quite the feat, but it was good for me to see, you know, if I really dig deep, I can do it. And so what I have found is there are certain like go-to verses that I have during certain circumstances or moments, or you know, sometimes when I'm just even in the car, like what am I supposed to do? Um, that can really help guide me, and it's a way that God the Spirit speaks to us. So we're gonna do a couple of those this week. Um the first one I was thinking about because I was reciting this quite a bit in church yesterday, is Hebrews chapter 13, verse 8. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And I was sitting on the pew, you know, we're people of habit, so we always sit in the same pew with the you know same people. Uh we sit next to, you know, Uncle Danny, and uh Becky sits behind us, and there's you know families that you know pretty much do the same thing, except for, you know, Easter and Christmas gets a little busy, so we, you know, may not get our assigned seat, so to speak. But as I was sitting there and we were going through the service, it occurred to me I have sat on this bench uh for years now. Um, you know, we've started going regularly, maybe I don't know, five or six years ago. And all the things that have kind of occurred, you know, we talk about life keeps lifing, um, while sitting in this same seat, same space. Um people in our lives who have passed, people who have been in the wilderness wilderness, um relationships that have drastically changed, um being prayerful for you know the healthy delivery of my grandson and then being able to take my grandson to church, um all the things. And it occurred to me that yes, that bench has remained the same, and for the most part, the people who have sat around us, um, there's you know some who have passed, there's families whom have grown. Um but being in that space and in God's presence has never changed. And as life evolves around us and through us and all the things, uh the one thing that I can rely on is his presence, his love, his mercy, and his grace, that he is unchangeable. And as I reflected on life of the past and the presence of that day, I know that him being unchangeable is not going to change forever, right? And I love that verse, and I come to it because when I am in a place where maybe three weeks ago I have been incredibly joyful, and you know, this is the best day of my life, and I've got you know my family around me and work's going well, and then three weeks later, this is the worst day of my life, my family's fighting, my persons in the wilderness, you know, whatever, you know, like I said, life keeps lifeing. But no matter what, I know that his relationship with me, his presence, and his love for me is unchangeable. So Hebrews chapter 13, verse 8 is one that I do lean on, and I say it in times of joy, I say it in times of blessings, I say it in times of gratitude, in times of sorrow, in times of sickness, in times of need, in times of abundance. Jesus Christ is the same. Yesterday, today, and forever. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
