How do we reset after truly resting that will be in alignment with the Spirit

Ecclesiastes 4: 6 remind us to not chase the wind

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Hello and welcome to Shine. I'm your host, Nicole Florence. Sounds a little different today. This is our last day of family vacation as I've been resting with the family and in God. And I'm sure you can hopefully hear the birds down here in Siesta Key. Also the cars passing. I was actually gonna go do this in a closet, but I wanted to remember these sounds as I sit on the porch of this beautiful little cottage that we annually come to with the family. It's one of my favorite places for us to just be and be with each other. And I wanted to remember what it sounded like. So if it's a little off for you, I apologize. It is absolute perfection for me right now. And I appreciate your patience as I've kind of replayed uh previous episodes while I've been resting. And of course, with ending vacation, I wanted to talk about how do we reset in a way that we should after resting, um, as we get back to our daily routine. If you all are anything like me, last night was hard to sleep before a travel day, as you think about all the things that need to be done, but not only to get back home, but all the things that need to be done at home, right? Um, you know, what do we need in the refrigerator and waking up the next morning getting ready for work, you know, all the things which kind of takes away a day of rest. But this week I wanted to talk about how do we truly reset in a way that is in alignment with our spirit, because the last thing we want to do is undo all of the rest that we just had. You know, many of us have to go back and grind even harder because we've been on vacation, and honestly, it shouldn't be like that because we know many times we can undo a vacation within a day or two when we tend to overdo when we get home. So, how do we positively reset in a way that is good for us spiritually as well as physically and emotionally? Because one thing we know about bearing the fruit of the spirit, it is very difficult to be patient when we're frustrated and exhausted. It is very difficult for us to be gentle and kind when we are irritable. It is difficult to have self-control when we feel that we are flailing in chaos, right? We just give up. And if you have been doing the Bible recap as I have with Terry Lee Cobble, wonderful way to read the Bible in a year. Um, we just finished Ecclesiastes, and Ecclesiastes chapter four, verse six really hit me where it says, better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. You know what a beautiful reminder to truly rest and enjoy all the gifts that we have been given instead of constantly striving for more and more, whether it is more money, more status, more attention, more stuff, right? Bigger and bigger houses, more and more cars, all of those things that literally we are chasing the wind. All of those things that are fleeting, all of those things that will never provide us the peace, the comfort, and the joy that we find in God. So we talk about resting, which um a week ago I talked about resting for God, resting in God, those ways that we can do every day and every week. But I'm also this week I want to talk about how do we reset and almost realign our daily routines in a way that we can make sure we are not chasing after the wind, that we are embracing that handful of tranquility that God wants us to embrace. So glad to be back with you and looking forward to resetting and realigning our routines, our daily lives with our families as well as with our professional families and work life in a way that will truly honor Him and allow us to walk with the Spirit in the way that we were purposed to be. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
