this week we will talk about knowledge vs wisdom ..
This little light of mine. I'm gonna let it shine. Hello and welcome to Shine. I'm your host, Cole Florence. And whoo, those birds. Beautiful symphony this morning. I hope wherever you are you are hearing that as well. This week I wanted to talk a little bit about knowing. Talk a little bit about knowledge. Because sometimes there are things that we know, right? Things that are true to us by the human eye and brain and our senses. Things like, I know there is bread baking in the oven, even though I don't see it because it smells wonderful. I know that the sun is going to rise every single morning. In fact, through the beauty of you know science and now our phones, I know exactly when the sun is going to rise and when the sun is going to set of where I am. I know that the sky, what it looks like when it's about to rain. You know, there are so many kind of factual things that we accept and we know through this world. But I think we have to start to understand the difference between knowing those things, knowing things that we have experienced, or things that we see from things that we don't, which is where wisdom comes in. You know, I can say I know when the sun rises, but wisdom it tells me it does so because of God's creation and God's plan. Because there are things that I know, but I can apply the things that I know are true about God's character, which gives me wisdom. So this week I want to talk a little bit about the things that we know to be true, but then I want to talk about the things that we know. I'll give it that little emphasis so you understand what I mean. Things that we know through our wisdom, through what God has shown us in Scripture, and through His character, which He shows us time and time again. His faithful love, his never-ending mercy, and the blessings of His grace. And sometimes there can be incredible gaps, right, or blind spots of the things that we know to be factual or true in this world compared to our wisdom. I mean, many of us, if you're anything like me, you know, I thought I knew everything when I was, you know, 16, 18. And I would get so mad, you know, when my parents would try to tell me something, and they'd be like, you don't know, um, you're only 16 years old, or even, you know, in my 20s, my 30s, my 40s, and now my late 50s, the amount of knowledge and experience I have gained through my life experiences, through, you know, true intention as you know, I became knowledgeable as a physician, um, through my experiences as a mother, um, and my experiences through friendships. You know, I want you to kind of think back of who you were, um, you know, 17, 18, getting ready to graduate from high school. Maybe when you were leaving college or getting married, uh, for many of you having kids, and as you've gotten older, you know, with those wonderful adult children and grandkids, just all the wealth of knowledge that you have gained just by living life. Not even, you know, to mention the knowledge of this world, the things that we learned and knew, you know, 20, 30, 40 years ago, and how much of that may be so different and changed and evolved in many decades. But that can also be true of how you have come to know God, God the Father, God the Son, as well as God the Spirit, because you have gained a wealth of knowledge, so to speak, you know, as wisdom, through all of those experiences, and how he has walked with you, how he has walked behind you, as he has carried you, sometimes pushed you. And so I want to talk a little bit this week about that, the things that we know, but also how we have applied the things we know and have learned, and have truly hopefully gained some wisdom, or how can we gain that wisdom? And how do we know that by words? How do we know that by what we hear? But also how do we know that by his name? And how do we know that through our daily kind of experiences? So hopefully you will join me this week as we will talk about the things that we know, but also the things that we know. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
